In 1960, Turk Murphy bought a saloon in San Francisco and renamed it
"Earthquake McGoons." The first time I went to SFO everybody
said "You've gotta go see Turk" and I did, and it became a regular
stop whenever I taught a course in that area.
Bob Schultz named his album "Thanks Turk", and you can see a cute caricature
of Turk on the cover, here.
